Salvo "The Info" (unreleased artwork)

Still haven't sorted out a new computer, so for the time being can't record any fresh vinyl finds...what I can do though is give you a taster of the upcoming Salvo banger 'The Info' featuring Kashmere and Chester P. The track will be released on the 20th of April via the newly formed King Kong Holding Company on limited 7" vinyl. To accompany the MP3 promo I thought I'd upload sleeve artwork which I designed that unfortunately won't be making the cut. King Kong decided to go for something different.

The brief was/is a full colour sleeve with b&w labels (B-side being the company logo) and Salvo's initial concept was based around the 1974 conspiracy thriller 'The Conversation' starring Gene Hackman - "a gripping, bleak study of electronic surveillance and the threat of new technologies examined through the private, internalized life of a surveillance expert". The poster artwork for the film, with a few tweaks here and there, would have made a great record sleeve in itself but I wanted to come with something original, so drawing from the key subject matter I came up with the design you see below. I'd never really used any Graphics programs for 'freehand' illustration purposes before and I'm quite happy with the results, so even though this design won't be used, I'm glad it gave me the opportunity to learn something new.
